They hope they can stop the growing trend of obesity in children especially in poor areas.
Do you think something like this should be passed in Philadelphia?
Do you think that we have a problem with obesity in our population?
What can we do to eat better?

Martial Arts: My Favorite Sport
By Joshua

My grandfather taught me shudokan karate when I was 13 years old. It made me feel powerful and in control. My grandfather passed away and I am now looking for a new mentor. The Martial Arts have taught me over the years to strengthen my body and my mind.
Do you know what Shudokan Karate is?
Which sport do you prefer?

Reaction to Today's Speaker, Mr. Hakeem
By Cammerin Davis
When I was listening to Mr. Hakeem’s speech, I though about someone that is very close to me. Although this is true, he is not currently in a situation that could get him hurt or placed in jail and humiliated like the thousands of other people who have to go through the jailing process. When Mr. Hakeem was speaking, I thought about how different my life would be now if that person was out of my life because of a prison sentence or because he’s 6 feet below the ground in a grave because he decided he wanted to be like the people hanging on the corner with the famous saying: “Whatever,” something he used to say about a year ago when we started talking.
When I heard about some of things that go on when you have to go to jail and about how rough it is, my soul cringed. I thought about some of the things that he used to do and some of the things that he said he used to do, and I thought: “What would have happened if we hadn’t met or if we weren’t friends anymore? Would he be gone? Would he still be on the corner with his boys doing whatever?” I am happy that we still talk and that he is completely safe now and I my soul can rest knowing that he is still in my life. I am happy we met and extremely happy that I was able to impact his life in such a profound way. And even still every night I pray for him to make sure he doesn’t go backwards in his progress forward, and that his path is still straight.

Lunch Food Opinions
I think we deserve bigger and healthier meals because we are growing boys and girls. We are very grateful for the food we receive, but would like bigger and healthier portions to fill up on.
So please write your opinions on what you think about my opinion, I am waiting?
So please write your opinions on what you think about my opinion, I am waiting?
what song is this...
He said, I write what I see
Write to make it right, don't like what I be
I like to make it like the sights on TV
Quite the great life so nice and easy,
See, now you can still die from that
But it's better than not being alive from straps.
Agreed, a Mead notebook and a Bic that click when its pushed and a whack whack beat.
That's a track thats weak that he got last week
'Cause everybody in the studio's like that's that heat
A bass-heavy medley with a sample from the 70s with a screwed up hook that went "Stack that cheese"
Somethin somethin somethin "Stack that cheese"
Mother sister cousin "Stack that cheese"
He couldn't think of nothin' "Stack that cheese"
He turns down the beat, writter's block impedes
Cryin' from the next room a baby in need of some pampers and some food and a place to sleep
That plus a black Cadillac on D's
Is what keeps him on track to be a great emcee.
Yeah.
Chrous
One you never heard of I,
Push it hard to further the
Grind, I feel like murder but,
Hip Hop just saved me
One you never heard of I,
Push it hard to further the
Grind, I feel like murder but,
Hip Hop just saved my life

My Corny 4th and Weekend!
By Lana Salmon
This weekend was super duper hekka boring!!! On the Fourth, my dad barbequed a bunch of chicken, and he bought bushels and bushels of crabs. Yes I was the eater of the crabs. To get descriptive, I remember I was still in my pajamas the whole day, Abercrombie sweats and Abercrombie beater. My mom was in her sweats and my sister was in her sweats. It wasn’t really a special day, so everybody was chill. My aunt and uncle came thru, and I remember that my aunt had on yellow, and my uncle was chill in some shorts and tee shirt.
We were in my backyard in West Philly, when it started to rain. We ran everything into the house before we got soaked. Then we decided to get Ben and Jerry’s. I think I got a waffle cone with cake batter and some chocolate brownie stuff. When we returned home I watched some movie name Waitress, and watched people around my way set off there own fireworks.
Saturday I went to my Grandma to the corniest mall out there, Springfield Mall. I accompanied her so she can buy something for her birthday the following day. I wandered off into the mall and came upon Hot Topic; I bought a $19 shirt because I thought it was really kewl looking. Then I found my grandmother in Macy’s buying a million and one shirts, and then we walked thru the mall. She bought me a dress from PacSun. It was sweet. Then she drove me back to prison; home.
The past Sunday was my grandmother’s birthday. I woke up at 2 and my parents were expecting me to get dressed to meet up with the rest of the family by 3:30. That is impossible by my means. Well I took a super quick shower and threw on that dress she bought me. Everybody complained that the dress wasn’t a dress so I had to put on some shorts. My mom, dad, sister and I gathered up into the car and drove to Outback Steakhouse. That is theeee worst restaurant out there. After the little family gathering I went home and texted the contacts, and watched TV.
To sum up the whole weekend, I will have to say it was a little busy for me to be on house detention, but at least I got out the house. But it was still boring.
